Located near Manchester United’s Stadium, No 1 Old Trafford provides 214,000 square feet of residential and amenity space in two towers of 18 and 15 storeys with a common landscaped podium at first floor. The 353 apartments situated in its prominent location have the benefit of the new ‘Wharfside’ metrolink stop on its doorstep.
Full advantage was taken of the natural level changed utilising the stepped site to provide undercroft car parking on the upper level and a generous reception and retail provision on the lower ground floor.
Renaissance provided Structural and Civil engineering services as well as temporary works design for this quality residential development.
Through close collaboration with the architect, a structural form was developed which provided efficiency in the column grid whilst working with the architectural layout.
Developing our experience of previous projects, we worked closely with the supply chain in detailing the reinforced concrete frame, all of which minimises the usage of material, hence reducing the embodied carbon, and floor cycle times during construction. These proactive steps contributed to the successful early delivery of the project for the client.
As part of our services renaissance also designed the temporary works for the contractor, Domis, including the piling mat, crane base and hoist foundations. We also worked closely with them to with regard to their construction sequencing in order to optimise the use of the podium deck for loading out of materials and access.
